ICSS 2021 Conference--Pre Conference Workshops

Pre-Conference Workshops (DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 26, 2021, 11:59 PM)

This year's theme is "Iowa Social Studies: A Whole New World"

We are excited to offer 2 options for this year's pre-conference workshops.

Teachers attending one pre-conference workshop on Sunday October 3 and the ICSS conference on Monday, October 4 will be eligible for a license renewal credit. Please fill sign up for one workshop and fill out the registration form on the side.

Medal of Honor

Middle and high school teachers from all subject areas, along with counselors, coaches, and administrators are invited to attend this Medal of Honor Character Development Program training day. The session will provide everything you need to use the Character Development Program. Those who attend will receive all of the resources at no cost, learn techniques for using the lessons with students, and be eligible to do an additional project and receive CEU credit. No cost to attend. Lunch is included.

Prior registration is required. Please note that all attendees will be expected to comply with local Covid-19 protocols, including those established by the training venue.

Teaching Japan through Geographic and Historic Lenses

Join NCTA for this in-person workshop, offered the day prior to the state social studies conference.This workshop will feature presentations on Japan’s geography and early modern Japan’s domestic and foreign policies (mid-16th to mid-19th centuries), as well as curriculum demonstrations that integrate content outcomes and skills development, per Iowa Social Studies standards. Open to Iowa Social Studies teachers, grades 6-12.
